Water Hyacinth (Eichhornia Crassipes):
The Water Hyacinth came to the area via Louisiana. The slave traders liked the way it looked, and planted it everywhere.
When given freedom to grow, the plant gets so thick that it blocks the sun from getting to the water, and other plants can not grow thereby reducing the amount of oxygen in the water. In some places it is so thick that boats can not travel though it.
It can be controlled by biological agents and making sure that boats and equipment are clean before they are put into other bodies of water.
